Access providers defined entry requirements and limitations

Basic rail terminology as defined by the applicable network

Access providers policies procedures and protocols including those in the event of identified unsafe situations or emergencies within the limits of the role being undertaken

Required skills

Communicate effectively with individuals and groups

Follow workplace policies procedures and protocols

Recognise hazards that may arise and take appropriate action

Conduct a situational awareness assessment

Use PPE conforming to required standards

The evidence guide provides advice on assessment and must be read in conjunction with the performance criteria required knowledge and skills the range statement and the assessment guidelines for this Training Package

The evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria of this unit and include demonstration of applying

the underpinning knowledge and skills

relevant legislation and workplace procedures

other relevant aspects of the range statement

compliance with site safety plans OHampS regulations and other regulatory requirements

Assessment must include exercises that demonstrate competent performance of the following

safely accessing the rail corridor

recognising the danger zone

identifying position of safety and safe place

maintaining a situational awareness to identify potential risks

identifying unsafe situations in the rail system

Context of and specific resources for assessment

Performance is demonstrated in a suitable context

Resources for assessment include

relevant exercises andor other simulated practical and knowledge assessments andor

access to an appropriate relevant location in the rail corridor

In both real and simulated environments access is required to

applicable documentation including procedures regulations and codes of practice

Method of assessment

Assessment of knowledge must be conducted through appropriate writtenoral tests

Practical assessment must occur

through activities in an appropriately simulated environment andor

in a rail corridor
